Bruno Soeiro initiated his musical studies in 1991 and, in 1993, he began to study composition at the Instituto Gregoriano de Lisboa (piano course).
In 2002 he continued his composition studies at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa, where he concluded his licenciatura degree in 2006. In 2008 he completes his Master degree in Composition at the Royal College of Music, in London, under the supervision of David Sawer. In 2013 he finishes his PhD in Composition at the King’s College London under the supervision of Silvina Milstein and George Benjamin.
Bruno Gil was awarded several scholarships by the Centro Nacional de Cultura and the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia. He has participated in Workshops under Mark-Anthony Turnage, David Sawer, Colin Mathews, Emmanuel Nunes, Composers’ Ensemble and the Orquestra Gulbenkian.
His music has been interpreted by several orchestras in many places throughout the UK and Portugal, namely, the Orquestra Gulbenkian, the RCM Symphony Orchestra, the Composers’ Ensemble, Orchestrutópica, under the direction of conductors Peter Selwynn, Richard Baker, Patrick Bailey, Guillaume Bourgogne and Rui Pinheiro, among others.
